Description:Catan Classic is the digital version of the hugely popular board game Catan (formerly known as The Settlers of Catan), where players strive to build and expand settlements, roads, and cities in an ever-evolving world. The game is set on the island of Catan, where players gather resources such as wood, stone, brick, sheep, and grain to build structures and trade with other players. The ultimate goal is to be the first to reach 10 points, which are earned by building settlements, cities, and roads, and collecting Development Cards.
Catan Classic brings the classic board game to your mobile device, allowing you to play solo against AI opponents or compete with friends in multiplayer mode. The game retains the strategic depth and dynamic trading mechanics that have made Catan a worldwide hit.
HOW TO PLAY:Start the Game: Upon launching the game, you can choose to play in single-player mode against AI opponents or play online with friends or other players. You can also set the number of players and adjust game settings based on your preferences.
Understand the Game Setup: The island of Catan is made up of hexagonal tiles, each representing a different type of resource (wood, stone, brick, sheep, and grain). At the start of the game, players take turns placing two settlements and two roads on the board. These initial placements will determine the resources you have access to.
Gather Resources: Each turn, players roll two dice. The number rolled determines which hex tiles produce resources for all players with settlements or cities adjacent to those tiles. For example, if you roll a 6, any settlement or city near a hex labeled "6" will produce that resource (based on the resource type for that hex). The goal is to gather these resources to trade, build, and expand your influence on the island.
Build and Trade:
Building: Use the resources you collect to build roads, settlements, and cities. A road requires one wood and one brick, a settlement requires one of each resource (wood, brick, sheep, and grain), and a city requires two grain and three stone. Settlements and cities can earn you points and help you gather more resources.
Trade: Trading is a key component of Catan. You can trade resources with other players or the bank. The bank offers trades at a 4:1 ratio (you give 4 of one resource and receive 1 of another), or you can trade with players at mutually agreed terms.
Development Cards: In the game, you can also purchase Development Cards for 1 sheep, 1 grain, and 1 stone. These cards provide special abilities that can help you gain an advantage. Some cards give you extra resources, others grant you victory points, and some may allow you to build roads or steal resources from other players.
Robber Mechanic: If you roll a 7, the robber is activated. Any player with more than 7 resource cards must discard half of them. The player who rolled the 7 moves the robber to a hex of their choice, blocking that hex from producing resources until the robber is moved again. Players can also use the robber to steal resources from another player with a settlement or city adjacent to the robber’s new location.
Points System: Players score points by building settlements (1 point each) and cities (2 points each), and by having the longest road (2 points) or the largest army (2 points), which are awarded through specific game actions. Development cards may also award victory points. The first player to reach 10 points wins the game.
End the Game: The game ends when a player reaches 10 points. Points are tallied from settlements, cities, longest road, largest army, and development cards. The player with the most points at the end of their turn wins the game.
Multiplayer Mode: If you’re playing multiplayer, you can either join a random game or invite friends to play together. The app will allow you to chat with other players and make trades during gameplay, just as you would in the physical version of Catan.
