Description:Everdell is a beautifully crafted, worker-placement and tableau-building board game set in a lush, vibrant woodland world. Players take on the role of woodland creatures striving to build and expand their own thriving city, using resources and workers to construct buildings, invite characters, and prepare for the changing seasons. The game features stunning artwork, strategic depth, and a captivating world that invites players into a charming yet competitive ecosystem. In Everdell, players will carefully plan their actions over several seasons, collecting resources, playing cards, and making key decisions to optimize their progress. The game offers a perfect balance of strategy, chance, and interaction, making it a favorite for both casual players and seasoned gamers.
HOW TO PLAY:Setup: Each player starts with a personal meadow and a set of workers. Players will also draw a hand of cards, which represent various creatures, buildings, and special events that can be played throughout the game. The game board features the central forest, where workers are placed, and several locations where players can collect resources or take actions. Seasons and Worker Placement: Everdell is played over four seasons, and each season has a different set of actions and goals: Spring: Begin by placing your workers to collect resources, such as wood, resin, stone, and berries. Use these resources to build your city. Summer: Gain more actions and more resources to build your city and invite creatures into your city. Autumn: Prepare for the winter, building up your tableau and expanding your city. Winter: The final phase where players race to complete their cities before the game ends. On their turn, players can place a worker on a location to gain resources, take actions, or play cards from their hand. Players can also build structures, or recruit new creatures, each offering specific abilities or bonuses. Building and Playing Cards: Cards are the key to advancing in Everdell. Players can play cards in their tableau, representing buildings and creatures that help expand their city. The cards have resource costs, and some cards provide immediate benefits, while others grant ongoing advantages. Players can build structures like farms or shops, and recruit creatures like foresters or merchants, which offer different abilities and contribute to victory points. Event and Achievement Cards: Everdell includes event cards that are achieved by meeting specific conditions, such as building a certain number of particular types of buildings or inviting specific creatures. Completing events can earn players additional points or benefits that help them grow their city. End of the Game and Scoring: The game ends when a player reaches the final season (winter) and completes their city. Points are awarded for the following: The victory points on building and creature cards in your tableau. Achievement cards and event cards completed during the game. Resources left at the end of the game also contribute to final scoring. The player with the highest total of victory points wins. Strategy and Interaction: The game is deeply strategic and requires players to plan ahead while balancing short-term actions with long-term goals. Players must decide when to build, when to gather resources, and when to play cards to gain the best advantages. Player interaction occurs mainly through worker placement, as players compete for limited resources and opportunities to take actions. Replayability: Everdell offers excellent replayability thanks to its variable setup, with different creatures, buildings, and events coming into play each time. The interactions between cards and the changing strategies required as players advance through seasons make each game unique. The inclusion of expansions like Pearlbrook and Bellfaire further expands the game’s options and depth. Learning Curve: Everdell has a moderate learning curve due to its wide variety of cards and actions. However, the rules are relatively straightforward, and players can quickly learn the basics. As players gain experience, they can dive deeper into the strategic possibilities, exploring the best combinations of buildings, creatures, and actions.
